LEARN FROM EVERYONE. FOLLOW NO ONE.
EDUCATE.
MONIKA'S CONTEMPORARY-FUSION CLASS is an experimental journey for the dancer; inviting and encouraging exploration while building upon a technical foundation. Class goers will play with shape, texture and musicality in the body. Each class begins with a full body warm up and stretch, followed by improvisational and conceptual exercises. This class' main focus is to free the mind from overthinking and apply intention and storytelling to each movement.
All beings are welcome in her class whether you have 1 year or 20 years of experience, Monika preaches “you’re never finished growing as an artist” and class is always what you make of it. As an educator, Monika's goal is to rid the mind of limitation, unearthing one’s strengths and highlighting the individuals idiosyncratic characteristics.
In a time when so much of art is driven by social media, influencers and superficial notions of what is the "perfect body" or image, she is tearing away the curtain to reveal what is real and true. Having lived through struggles with self-love, body dysmorphia and unhealthy eating behaviors, Monika draws on these life experiences and her holistic view of the world to translate that into powerful, emotive pieces that challenge the way we perceive ourselves and others.
Monika’s work reveals that dance is a human expression for all. She's not just rocking the boat… she’s pointing it in the right direction and putting wind in its sails.
***Monika is proud to say that she is certified with the Dance Education Equity Association , creating a safe and inclusive space for all dancers***
